İyi ki doğdun ve iyi ki benim en büyük kızımsın!
Kızımın yeni yaşının ilk gününde canım kızımız ve oğlumuzla. Elif'im daha uyuyordu.
My Little Sweet Angel Meryem,
I remember your eyes were full open seconds later you were
born and you were staring at me with your big dark eyes. I love those eyes. You
sure have an expressive face and I like how that communicates your feelings sometimes
even stronger than your words.
I like the big smile on your face and I want to see that smile
all the time. It is making me feel happy. It is making us all happy (your
daddy, your brother and your little sister). Your big smile is like the touch
of sun light on our faces in the mornings when we wake up. I love it! It is
scientifically proven that emotions are contiguous so once you are around I
can’t think of anyone that will not pick up your happiness. You sure will be
one of those people everyone will want around. You have a magic in your smile!
You made me proud so many times and I know whatever you
start doing you will do the best. You were rocking out at the soccer field. I
really enjoy how you get better in playing the piano. You are brave and strong.
As soon as you started walking you were practicing climbing and monkey
bars. You will try out doing new things and you will learn how to get better at
things. You sure do not give up easily.
You are a great big sister. Even though you and your brother
have some though times during your play time I know you always take care of him
and your little sister. Once we are outside you watch them carefully. You always
make sure they are safe and happy.
You attend to every detail, and respect to your friends' choices.
At the same time you expect the same respect. You come home learning new
things, you pick up books that you will learn.
I love our summers where we go out for walking, you ride
your bikes, hiking in the woods, spending hours at the beach and having lots
and lots of picnics, breakfast-picnic, late afternoon picnic, dinner picnic…
Sometimes ending the day by getting a big ice-cream - you always pick
strawberry and chocolate, I usually pick mint-chocolate chips and Bilge always tries something new.
I love finding notes in random places like in your pocket or
your backpack all saying how much you love me. As you say “I love you when you
hug me, I love you when you smile”. We grownups sometimes forget how it is
important to give those big warm hugs and having that magical smiles on our
faces. I have one of your notes in my office reminding me those.
I think I miss waking up with your interesting questions
like why blue berries are blue or how the very first tree came out in the
world. Even though we don’t always have the answers we think together and those
conversations always open a door for something new we did not know before. I
think we are having less of those recently, so we should pick that up soon. Those
questions always show me how much hard thinker you are and how careful you
are in your observations.
I know you want 100 stuffed animals in your room, you want a
big backyard where you can grow a variety of fruits and plant our favorite
herbs- we will make sure to have mint for you and basil for me. We will
definitely have lots and lots of flowers. I am not sure if we will be able keep
bunnies in our backyard but it is fun to dream about having a lot of fluffy
bunnies and a doggie. Whatever the future have for us I know it will definitely
have a lot of fun, surprises, new experiences and lots of learning.
I am so happy to have you as my daughter, you are my little

Dear Meryem,
After starting the first grade, I am very happy to observe your improvement. You surprise me with the new things you learn at school, some of which I even don't know myself. I enjoy seeing your artwork, you start to work on details and your work includes very specific details that shows your attentiveness. Your reading improved steadily throughout the school year. At the end of the year l believe that you will start reading chapter books. I can't wait to hear the stories that you will read us.
I admire your patience and caring towards your little brother and sister. Both of them enjoy spending time with you. At times you become little Ms. Watrich and start teaching new things to your brother, read books to him. Both your brother and sister loves to play with you.
As your parents we are very proud to see the improvement in you. We are happy to see the things you achieve when you work hard. We want you to be a hard working, caring and happy person. We are glad to see that you are on the right direction.. We are very happy and proud to be your parents.
